    Although both involve some form of website optimisation, the two tactics are actually very different.

    Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO) involves analysing website and marketing data, specifically user activity and interactions, to better understand and streamline the user journey to improve your conversion rate.

    On the other hand, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) involves analysing overall website traffic and interactions, specifically from organic sources, and making various optimisations on and off your website to improve your visibility and ranking on search engines like Google and Bing.

  • What does 'conversion rate' mean?

    Your website conversion rate is simply the percentage of your visitors that have completed a conversion action, like filling out a form, making a purchase, or downloading a resource.

    To calculate your conversion rate, you simply divide your total number of conversions by your total traffic and then multiply it (see the sum and example below).

    Conversion Rate = [Total No. of Conversions ÷ Total Website Traffic] x 100

    E.g. 100 Conversions ÷ 10,000 website visits = 1% conversion rate.
